Let the grill cool a little before you scrub, and work along the bars. The coils press into the gaps, so a light, even push does most of the work. The brush has a long reach, but wear a grill glove over a hot grate.

Knock the coils clean after use and rinse the head in hot soapy water. Dry it fully and hang it up by the ring.
