Caring for your knives

Hand-wash and dry a knife straight after use; a dishwasher dulls the edge and can crack wooden handles. Cut on wood or plastic, never on glass, stone or a plate, and store knives in a block, a sheath or on a magnetic strip.

Rippled blades, blue resin and wood

  • Blades: steel with a fine rippled pattern running along the face
  • Handles: deep blue resin joined to a section of figured wood, finished with a steel end cap
  • Bolster: a polished steel collar between blade and handle gives a firm finger stop
  • Nakiri: a broad, flat-ended blade for chopping vegetables
  • Bread knife: a serrated edge for crusts and soft loaves

Each handle's pattern of resin and wood is its own, so the knives you receive will differ a little from the photos. These are sharp, full-size knives: keep them in a block, a drawer insert or on a magnetic strip, out of reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

Are the handles all the same? No: the blue resin and the wood grain fall differently in every handle, so each knife looks a little different.

Can the knives go in the dishwasher? Wash them by hand and dry them straight away; a dishwasher dulls the edges and can damage the wood.

Is a knife block included? No, the set is the six knives. They fit a standard knife block or a magnetic strip.
